Postgraduate Laboratory Training (PgLab)

Genetic Technologist

This training will provide you with essential skills in laboratory health and safety, and advanced biomedical and genomic techniques to become a successful genetic technologist. It will equip you with the expertise and understanding of laboratory safety and animal work, performing cell culture, issues in cell culture, flow cytometry instrumentation and analysis, ELISA, genomic technologies, and blotting techniques. It will also equip you with the expertise and understanding of advanced laboratory techniques such as gene editing in cancer immunotherapy research, blotting techniques, and applying these techniques in genomics research. To get a genetic research-related role, you need specific skills in advanced laboratory techniques to work in an international research environment. The aim of this training is to develop these advanced level laboratory skills.
